From here on in, I shoot without a script.

On May 1, 2014, I took possession of a duplex/townhouse with my fiance in Driggs, Idaho. Previously, we had both been living in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, near our families and friends and where we grew up. But we took a risk for our careers and we made a jump that has already been extremely fulfilling and rewarding. Who knew small town life could be so great?

But there are several differences. When I left home, my parents were putting tomatoes in the ground, and had been harvesting greens and radishes for weeks in their backyard garden. Days were not only long, but warm, with highs in the 70s and 80s. Here in Idaho, we've still got highs in the 40s and 50s if we're lucky, and every night is a frost risk. But I am determined to use my little slab of a back porch to grow some veggies in containers.

Only... I'm pretty stupid when it comes to plants. I consistently over or under water. I killed herbs in my kitchen window. I killed an air plant. I killed a succulent. I've never gardened before. Sure, I've put plants in the ground for my mom, and weeded for her, and picked ripe tomatoes. But actually nourishing and encouraging those plants to grow and produce? Never done it. No clue how to. I'm plant stupid.

So from here on in, I'm flying by the seat of my pants. Let's see what happens, shall we?
